Henry’s By Post Vanilla Black Tea April 22, 2009

Filed under: Eating and Drinking,Uncategorized — Alison @ 2:49 pm

I love a good cup of tea and rather fancy this Organic Vanilla Black Tea by Henry’s By Post a company based in Princeton, Wisconsin. I guess it might be a bit too expensive to ship over to the UK so I shall have to find some vanilla tea over here. I usually drink good old PG Tips or Clipper Organic but I’m always open to new tastes and flavours.

Aren’t these vintage puddling moulds from Kay Loves Vintage  just to die for? And, of course, what you can produce in them. I do love a good blancmange!

French Nature Posters April 21, 2009

I’ve been looking for things to put on my rather bare walls and just love these nature posters from The French General Store. I especially love the pigs and cats as they’re two of my favourite creatures but was also tempted to post the goats and cows and sheep and, ooh, all of them! And, while apples aren’t my favourite fruit, I’m fascinated by heirloom varieties and the types of apple you only get at farmers’ markets with names like Hoary Morning and Rybston’s Pippin. Although, if I do partake of the old pomme, I’m rather fond of a common-or-garden Granny Smith!

1Canoe2 Letterpress Recipe Cards and Box April 20, 2009

As a trainee domestic goddess and enthusiastic adapter of recipes, I’m coveting these beautiful letterpress recipe cards and wooden box by 1canoe2. There are 40 letterpressed recipe cards with all images hand drawn and printed on 100lb and 140lb cardstock. Tabs are cut by hand, and have the following words: entrees, appetizers, soups and salads, treats, bread, side dishes and beverages while the box is made by one of the creative duo’s dads. How sweet is that? It might inspire me to come up with some delicious recipes to hand down to future generations, like my mean roasted veggie lasagne and breakfast smoothie. Want!

As part of my new healthy eating regime (which hasn’t happened today – see cocktail sausages for details!) I’ve decided to cook more salad and veg dishes and bought the Ottolenghi cookbook for inspiration. It’s nom. Heaps of garlicky, lemony niceness and salady goodness then a great meat section and a huge, fabulous baking chapter. It’s my new cookbook du choix.

Lyle’s Syrup Sponge Ice Cream March 11, 2009

Three words: Oh. My. God. This is the most divine ice cream. Imagine golden syrup flavour ice cream with syrup sauce and sponge pieces. Is your mouth watering? It should be! I bought mine at Sainsbury’s but I believe Tesco have it too. My diet is totally shot to pieces!

Happy Valentine’s Day February 14, 2009

Filed under: Eating and Drinking — Alison @ 6:28 pm

Though I don’t buy into its commerciality, I thought I would wish you a very happy Valentine’s Day. Instead of going out this evening for overpriced food, crowded restaurants and shoddy service, the husband and I had a lovely pub brunch/lunch. I had Eggs Benedict followed by Bakewell tart and custard, washed down with two pints of cider and a cappuccino – nom!
